I'm gonna need more hangers.

dress [foley&corinna] :: boots [underground] :: bag [kimchi&blue]

today was one of those impossibly beautiful days. i went to the korean contemporary exhibit with Physics Awesome. he was nice enough to take today’s pictures and i loved every one of them; i had such a hard time narrowing it down. i generally try not to do more than 5 pictures for an outfit post because i myself stop caring after 5 and anymore i feel is overkill. but all of his photos captured moments rather than poses and i really like that. the slightly imperfect blurs, my mid movements, and the lighting…everything!

i bought this dress yesterday at buffalo exchange among other things. it’s actually supposed to be tied like this, but after some fooling around, i came up with this arrangement. there’s more to come, this dress is magnificent like that. it flutters like some sort of ethereal entity…a pixie…or a cuttlefish perhaps.

i actually debated for exactly 1 month before wearing these boots out. they were a love at first stalk sort of thing in the summer, but in real life, they were much different than the rest of my wardrobe, so i spent a lot of time deliberating and trying and going back and forth, thinking it wasn’t going to work out. but today, i just put them on, ran down the stairs, and didn’t look back.

sweater [bcbg] // dresses [rampage, thrifted] // shoes [9west] //jewelry [uo, hot topic, f21, wet seal, thrifted]

my wonderful friend davers humored me by taking the pictures. i don’t usually like doctoring up photos, but since it was halloween and my outfit was mostly black, it seemed more than appropriate. to be perfectly honest, i’ve wanted to dress up like this for a long time. i’ve just been waiting for the perfect moment. i’ve always wanted to be goth for a day.

black lipstick (though i have none so i substituted with eyeliner) is surprisingly addicting. i think for once, i understand why goth kids like being shrouded in a cloak of darkness. it feels marvelously powerful.

This was the former name of my blog, so naturally I have a soft spot for it. It reflects my obsessive affinity for white, poof infused-tulle skirts. I want a closet full of ‘em.

At my university, our dorms are called “colleges,” and certain days out of the year, we celebrate our college’s individuality with a theme. There’s also drinking involved, but that’s beside the point. A few of our themes have been Will Smith and Oil Kings/Texas Queens. I think I’ve been waiting all year for Kindergarden Day.

The skirt…I love this skirt. Got it at the Tommy Hilfiger store at the outlet for $12! Yainorite? I haven’t bought anything during lent (yes, I did make it) and afterwords, didn’t really splurge at all. Anyways, back to raving about this skirt. It reminds me of Prada SS08, the last collection by Miuccia that I ever really liked.

It’s pretty uncanny and I’m pretty freakin lucky I scored this in my size. Love it so much. It’s an ideal ladylike summery skirt; perfect for picnics. Another piece I would consider a go-to piece for instant style. Don’t you love it when you know your relationship with something newly bought is going to go so well? Ah la amor de ropas.

It’s too bad you can’t see the shoes well in the grass up there. They’re fantastic. I got them when K-Drama and I went to the outlet (Houston Premium Outlets that is) for $30!! It was between them and a pair with cupcakes all over. I already have a pair of printed ones, plus all these tweens were clamoring over the cupcakes. These spoke to me. They’re glittery, they’re freaking gold! Yeah, of course I said yes. I got him a pair too, a late b-day pressie.

The handsome chocolate leather type texture suits him perfectly BUT, there was this other high tops pair that was white with gold zipper detail, men’s size ONLY and he wouldn’t go for them. :( tragic, they were only $20. OH wellllll. I win otherwise though.

Oh yeah, that’s a dinosaur moon bounce behind me btw.

I’ve been wanting to wear a bow this huge for awhile now. I’m still very pleased with the way my idea to use my scarf for a bow materliazed perfectly into this headpiece confection that cost me nothing. I wore it for the Candyland study break too. I love it I love it. I’m gonna try to wear any other chance I get now. It delights me greatly.

As for the bracelets, I did have more, but I chose to hold back a bit. It was humid and gross outside. Other complaints: my hair is getting dull/styleless and looking at Tavi’s new Mia Farrow cut and Brooke’s Tao Okamoto style bob, I’m itching for a shorter dud myself. Just gotta hang on a little longer for the summer…

Ah, I just love the vibrance of that day, though I felt I still could’ve gone to greater heights, more more more. But you know I always feel that way. I want another dress up day like this. Am I asking for too much?

My mother takes the best photos of me, hands down. There’s something about the way she conducted this shot; it was as if she knew exactly what I wanted and more. It’s got to be a mother thing.

This is the outfit I wore to get my hair cut yesterday. My stylist and I discussed in depth this cut and again, she is another woman in my life who’s creative direction is remarkable, especially since this cut cost me $14 + tip = $19. I’ve always used a different lady at this place and now I can’t imagine trusting anyone else.

So my look that day was to be really corporate cool and with this new do, I think it’s very Korean-esque, as in more on the frilly fashion-y side rather than realistic. Besides, who’s going to take me seriously with my panda purse?

PS- these are my absolute favorite pair of shoes.

I love text T’s.

Especially ones that speak for you.

I am also loving Hedi Slimane’s photo diary. It is a taste of still life.

A gentle metallic wave

Would you prefer a wink or a punch of color?

Must try: jackets cropped right at the pant waist-will they give me length? Also, gun metal gray does not seem so taboo in this subdued hue.

Draping: flirty free/flirty fitted

Same belt worn cinched and loose, where can I find such versatility?

If you could wear the wind, would you run?

No sir, I would cat walk.

PS. Why don’t I own more strappy platforms? Why?

I love these jeans so much. I wish all of my jeans had this cut; tightish at the thighs but loose below the knees and just barely bunched at the ankles. Mmmmmm.

This past Wed, Gibson Girl declared it to be Statement Necklace Day, in honor of the latest trend, which is a timeless favorite of mine. I never got to see the girls though, we have mixed up schedules. Boo!

Ping Pong Ball Necklace, handmade

Ping Pong Ball Necklace, handmade

I chose my ping pong ball necklace, which Killerspin did see and got a kick out of. This is another one of my DIY necklaces, which was actually a modifed Teen Vogue Idea (not in their DIY section though), that I made back in high school. I feel a little like Wilma Flintstones with it on.

Stephen-san said I look like a shaman from WOW. LOL, not a bad description. Its a very baubly necklace for sure and super fun to wear. Maybe I’ll make/paint another one in the name of Betty.

I take these sneakers for granted too much. I got them in Belgium awhile ago and I should treat them more like the treasure find they are.

Also, I apologize for the lack of posts lately. Hurricane Ike hit and all and I didn’t really have as much downtown to seriously consider outfits and I just feel too tired all over lately. I hope I’m not getting sick. Thanks for all your comments, they make me very happy that people care about my efforts. I’ll keep trying!
