I'm gonna need more hangers.

lily kwong [vogue china, april 2012]

some people know that i have a minimalist streak. i’ve been looking for a skirt version of my wednesday addams dress. damn you miu miu! and now i’ve also just spent way too long looking at chignon hair tutorial for my fun friday outfit. my school’s new higher ups are a lot more severe, so this is my mild attempt at demonstrating casual(er) friday.

tulle skirt without the elastic band: this may actually be improbable, but this skirt has the raw hem tufts on the outside to mask the tackiness of elastic at least.

green office girl barbie shoes exactly as pictured. same brand too preferably. BUT WHERE?

this look has been bored into my mind. in its crisp silhouetted perfection it manages to squeeze in bits of whimsy, untucked polka dot blouse + cobalt socks. this is probably the most perfect koreanized outfit i saw myself potentially getting into. its like swedish girl style, but more playful. UGH, painfully wanting.

found this magazine at an angel-in-us cafe, definitely my new favorite find. its a dual cover zine, for boys and girls. need to get paid so i can buy this months issue, along with vogue girl and elle girl and nylon. are zine subscriptions possible here? i never see those annoying tags sticking out.

currently into the androgynous differences of these looks. slowly building my collection of white collared shirts and my new found obsession for knits. and still on the prowl for the perfect leather jacket. i should stop traveling so i can throw down serious coinage for one when i get back to seoul. or japan. :D

i realized that if i don’t blog, i end up not thinking about what i’m buying and careless wanting ensues. i need to do this to remain focused and own up to the principles of quality and thoughtful style exploration that i worked so hard to uphold before. otherwise, i’m just going to bleed out fast fashion again, which is so not ok.

vogue china [aug 2011]

i take back what i said about tao here. she is most definitely not a one trick pony kind of girl (she’s at least two). its supposed to be an homage to freja, but tao totally steals the show. now i wanna cut my hair, wear heavy make up daily, get a star tattoo, and other style things i really shouldn’t engage in. god she’s breathtaking, i can’t get over it! *stares*

acne vest [carolinesmode]

if i had a fashion tumblr, this would be one of those “instant reblog” moments. for the record, this isn’t about the vest being acne made (they can go fuck themselves for being stupidly overpriced), but the color slam drunk with an assist from the moto-vest. which reminds me again how much i want one, no, many. i think despite my goals of going for the most sterile of looks, i end up liking this long waistcoat look.

i’ve been trying to get another post ready lately, but its taking forever to collect my thoughts on my closet curating. its hard to bounce ideas off yourself on something so pressing! luckily i have Gibson Girl, but its still tricky.

other things i’ve been doing: seeing friends, dealing with a hang over (tolerance = ground zero!), watching star trek voyager, altering a dress.

vogue nippon [aug2011, jun2011] :: elle france [jun2011]

slits + cut outs. i don’t know how to convey how drawn i am to these except to force them down your eyes. frequently.

vogue brazil [june2011]

i love her hair. and her expression in the last one. and all the little details that bring this home: half tuck, watch choker, bowler, silver. <3

vogue paris [june/july2011]

i saw this in the midst of my clinical phase and it still seized me in so many ways. when i think about it, it makes a lot of sense; it appeals to my old aesthetics: layered bracelets, quasi-madonna swagger (cuz you can never be the real thing), oversized outerwear, cheeky polka dots. i’ve even wanted a marshalls cap like that before. and the leather jacketttttt! i like my LJs hardwared.

wonderland [feb/mar2011]

got a lot of belated inspiration posts coming up. it’s time.

i broke my sunglasses in barcelona, in a hug-induced scuffle with friends. they were heart-shaped, pale transparent pink, cheapass UO ones and i was quite fond of them, probably because they stuck around. anyway, i was waiting for them to break so i could replace them. that is not in any way a reflection of how i view people. maybe boys. buwhaha.

i thought about maybe getting large circular metallic frames, a la the 70s trend, but decided not to. still thinking about it obviously, but i’m still convinced heart shaped ones are the shape for me.

like the t-length + boots thing. demure grunge is great.

rinko kikuchi [oyster#93] :: chiaki kuriyama [i-d magazine#293]

when it comes to beauty icons, i’m drawn to japanese girls. the reason is in the jawline, a sharp and slightly hollowed out one, which my face can be at times. i think it looks soft today because i’m feeling quite doe-ish (doughish too, but less so). other faces i quite like are devon aoki, jenny shimizu, and even daul kim (although she breaks the j-girl line). tao okamoto used to be on this list, but i think i just like her hair. i used to want to trade faces, who didn’t, but i think i’m at a comfortable place where i just use the term “icon” loosely as a source of inspiration. i like seeing how they accentuate their angles and expressions in photos. oh and make up ideas.

lately i’ve been preoccupied with restoring my former, not-college exhausted face and trying to take better care of my skin, sleeping 8 hrs and eating well. i should start taking vitamins and drinking more water. my pursuit for natural beauty within myself has been on my mind more than shopping, which is so odd to me since shopping is just as natural to me.
