I'm gonna need more hangers.

shorts [borrowed]

spinelli has these great printed shorts handmade in ghana from her days studying abroad. african prints liberate me from my bohemian prejudices and i could use more of that.

capucine

this is my dear friend capucine sara: she’s one of my new photogs,  a vagabond girl, changing names, changing forms, changing spaces, always. i’m trying new settings on my camera and we all know i’m still i’m amateurville, but believe me i’m trying to gfto. instead of focusing (ha!) on my shoddy skills, let’s appreciate sara’s free spirited rendition of pattern mashing. i wanna take more pictures of her because you can definitely see why we’re friends by the way we swag out together.

socks [now fashion, gunsan] :: shoes [culture call]

i have simple and complicated goals, one of them is to have a polka dotted version of everything i already have. i got this chambray shirt on a whim (i’m so French in this war of wills) and have been wearing it everyday last week when i get home. i love the newness of clothes and i can wear them for days post purchase to indulge in it for as long as possible. don’t worry, it’s in the wash now.

i got those silver shoes like i said i would. also finally shot the lookbook i’ve been meaning to post. yay getting things (done)!

i have wicked cases of insomnia lately. i don’t really know why. it happens rather frequently and i would like it to stop. the only good sleep i get is when i’m sleeping over Capucine’s, which is generally post-intensive partying. what’s it gonna take to be marginally healthy in this country? to be honest, it’s not just my sleep patterns that are disrupted: it’s eating, it’s exercise, everything. i think i manage to gain the freshman 15 every 4 years or something. i will say this though, despite the bodily complaints, i’ve never been this stable in my life. i’m so happy right now, i think i can deal with a few first world problems a bit longer.

sometimes i worry that my blog is too personal, revealing too much about what my real life is actually like; paranoid and hesitant about disclosing those kinds of things, thinking that if i wasn’t vague, if i was too real, i wouldn’t be enticing. i know i’m one of those unreliable bloggers, dabbling and posting inconsistently, but it doesn’t mean that i don’t have things i’d like to share. maybe it was always this way, but my blog is more of a style blog than a fashion one, sometimes simply a glorified visual diary. i just want to be able to tell you when i’m in love or what i’m doing with my life besides planning my next purchase. i think those things are extremely relevant, and if you know me personally, you can tell my mood by my clothes very easily. i’m a terrible aesthetic liar.

aaaaaaaaand now i’m tired.

coat [ewha street] :: collar [hongdae]

i realize now that my hesitation to buy clothes before sprung out of a sedentary life with sedentary needs. i was in seoul this weekend with the girls and the need to stand out when going out was there. i think that’s why i want these bright things again. i’ve always got somewhere to go. with minimalism, i just wanted to disappear glamorously. ok no really, but my wardrobe did. do i think too much through my clothes? i don’t even care that i do, i don’t know why i’m complaining. i just like to hear myself type i guess.

i also realized that it’s pointless to name most brands of korean purchases cuz they copy and paste things everywhere, so i’m citing where i purchased it instead. i hate fussy coats with lots of buttons and i actually hesitated when i saw it. do i hesitate too much?

shoes [jeffrey campbell] :: sweater [oh! jamae] :: skirt [borrowed, ASOS]

but i’m waiting waited anyway. these. are. so. alice-in-wonderful. i can’t get yellow/teal out of my mind. after what seemed like forever, i got these 8’s (i wear 7’s) and with two pairs of socks, they’re the perfect winter boots to cheer me up among the army of ant boots i keep seeing. not that i don’t want a pair of those either, but yellow shoes have become my thing. this is my 3rd pair.

a special thanks to Emilie @ plumforpolly.com. she is unbelievably sweet and helped me and my annoying inquiries every step of the way. i can’t thank her enough, honestly. also, her kids are a beautiful example of why i want half kids.

jumper [american west] :: rings [my got]

my sunday after-the-shit-show outfit. The Princess came to visit and i insisted we dress up to go out with the kids in the City. too bad there were no pics, cuz she was this ruby red sweet thing and i was this vamp-vixen type and the Gangster Girl was this great-rap-hop diva in my new Ciara/Mariah coat and it became a gorgeous mess of a night. those were the shoes from last night. i’m working back into the high heeled life.

i’m wearing this jacket to pills, should i just buy another to make it last? or just replace it when the time comes? this is my latest thematic issue: replacement. must something else always be filling some void, instead of creating a new cavity of affection?

sweater, skirt [elves] || dress (worn as shirt) [river island]

i’m obsessed with animal prints now like they’re the new jil sander floral. i want something in every one imaginable…giraffe, dalmation…cruella knows what i’m talkin about. in other print news, really liked a skull print longsleeve and a wonderland print sweater, but i really needed to save for my upcoming travels so they’re in limbo for now. the thing about shopping in korea is that it’s pretty much all fast fashion: high turnover, crap quality. i can’t avoid it so i’m making the most of it by indulging in some things i can’t in the states. at least the designs are acceptable.

this skirt. shit son, the zip-ability is killin me. i can also wear it as a dress and it would be such excellent date attire. pity that won’t be happening anytime soon.

jeans [colorfe]

1) i wear make up everyday to work. and take a break on weekends, save for evenings out of course. it started because my mentor teacher got me some and i was obligated, but i gotta admit, it’s really freakin fun to doll up. its a bit different than an american routine, mostly in terms of brands and something called “bb cream.” more later.

2) i’m obsessed with skincare. even moreso. i have this strict routine in addition to normal face washing which involves toner+lotion+eye cream. like make up, it’s a joy to hunt for the perfect brand/products. i’ve always wanted to have one of those “like-omg-i’ve-been-using-this-for-ages” types of deals and be a huge asshole about it.

3) i don’t wash my hair everyday which is actually a big deal for me, cuz i’m so used to clean hair. i wash it every other day or every 2 days and it’s been a lot more healthy. it’s also getting close to nipple length WHICH MAKES ME SO HAPPY. you don’t even know, it’s just been a long time. maybe perfect length by january?

4) i braid my hair. a lot, i’ve been trying different styles when my hair is dirty. this one is my current favorite.

5) i’m back on the pattern mixing train. the minimalist thing was super fun and its definitely still a part of me but korea is waaaaaay too homogenous for me and patterns is how i’m punch-protesting their drugged-dragged style in the face. yes these are new jeans. i dont really like denim but omg…what would you do if you saw drop crotch polka dotted goodness?
